Unconcealing the nature of creativity & consciousness.
poiesis: “the process of emergence of something that did not previously exist.”
The moment of (meta-)crisis in which we find ourselves signals an extraordinary disruption. A disruption not merely of the structures by which we conduct ourselves in the world (and by which we have done so for the last 500+ years)…
But of the meaning apparatus which give those structures their sense of firm legitimacy—the foundation of what we believe it is to be human.
The work I explore here seeks to unconceal that which so fundamentally constitutes who and what we are, even as it remains utterly hidden from us—as close to us as our very breath, as far away as the farthest star.
In the investigations through which this work activates itself, the intention is to bring about conditions for dwelling.
‘Dwelling’ as a philosophical, dialogical and socially engaged manner of discovery and creation. That by which who and what we most fundamentally are gets revealed, in order to make space for that which we might become.
To Begin
Over the course of the last 7+ years, I have been actively engaged in the question, and hereby pose it publicly…
“What is the nature of human being and how might we facilitate its becoming, its transformation into possibility?”
In posing the question in this manner, I am deliberately putting it in somewhat strange and foreign language.
I pose it in such a way so that the language of the question might itself hint at the distance between our current, encultured way of understanding, and that toward which the question invites us to step.
To reach into something new is, necessarily, to step into that which, as yet, does not (and can not) make sense.
The language, the grammar, the vocabulary, the metaphoric resonance will necessarily feel strange, obscure…. perhaps (unreasonably) esoteric.
Join me as we investigate this question in ways that are at once deep and consequential….
